F1: Hamilton takes his first laps as a Ferrari driver

Despite the fog and humidity, fans were able to see the 40-year-old Briton and his yellow helmet from a bridge overlooking the track, very close to Ferrari’s headquarters in Maranello.

Hamilton surprisingly announced last February that he was leaving Mercedes for Ferrari in 2025 after twelve successful years with the German team, winning six of his seven world titles. With his new teammate, the Monegasque Charles Leclerc, they will unveil on February 19 in Maranello the car they will drive this season.

The first official tests will follow the following week in Bahrain, before the first Grand Prix of the season, on March 16 in Australia.

Ferrari has been waiting for a drivers’ world title for 18 seasons and Kimi Räikkönen’s crowning achievement in 2007.

In 2024, Hamilton has only won two Grands Prix, notably the British Grand Prix in July, which ended a two and a half year drought. He finished seventh in the World Drivers’ Championship, 214 points behind winner Max Verstappen (Red Bull).
