CAF disqualifies Congo

There were 17 countries qualified for Chan 24 postponed to next summer.
One of these 17 has just been disqualified by CAF: The Congo!
The pattern: Transgression of the CHAN regulations as well as the Disciplinary Code.
The decision comes after Equatorial Guinea filed an appeal regarding Congo’s rostering of a player deemed unqualified.
CAF, confirming the validity of Equatorial Guinea’s reservations, rules as follows:
– The ”round trip” matches between the two teams are canceled and sold out
– A 3-0 forfeit victory is recorded for the benefit of the Equatorial Guinea which is drafted to participate in CHAN24.
– Congo is fined $10,000.
Congo qualified on the field thanks to the 2-1 victory acquired in the return match at home, after holding Equatorial Guinea to a draw on the road (0-0).
The Congo has the possibility of appealing.
Equatorial Guinea will join Group D along with Senegal, Sudan and Nigeria.
