And two! For the second year in a row, Ott Tänak (Hyundai) set the best time in the Monte-Carlo Rally Shakedown. The Estonian set a time of 2:09.8, 0.8s better than Kalle Rovanperä (Toyota), second, and Sébastien Ogier (Toyota), third. The Finn, like Ott Tänak, achieved his reference time on his first run, while the eight-time world champion had to wait for his second attempt.
Elfyn Evans (Toyota) follows his teammates (+1.1) and is ahead of reigning champion Thierry Neuville. The Belgian only completed two tests, like Tänak, while the Toyota drivers all did three. Adrien Fourmaux (Hyundai) quickly got into the rhythm with his new team (6th, one second behind Neuville), like Josh McErlean at M-Sport.
The Irishman was one of the only Rally1 drivers to make four attempts, but his strategy paid off: improving each time, he finished ahead of his teammate Grégoire Munster by 1.2s, who also made four attempts.
As a reminder, these times do not count for the general classification. The first special will take place on Thursday at 6 p.m. departing from Digne-les-Bains.
