Madison Keys (no. 19) qualified on Wednesday for the third semi-final of her career at the Australian Open after those of 2015 and 2022, where she could face the second player in the world, Iga Swiatek.
On the court of the Rod Laver Arena, the 29-year-old American won in three sets of 3-6, 6-3 and 6-4 in front of the Ukrainian Elina Svitolina (no. 28), whom she now has beaten four times in six confrontations.
She will face the winner of the match between Iga Swiatek (No. 2) and Emma Navarro (No. 8) in the semi-finals, scheduled for early this afternoon in Melbourne.
Finalist at the United States Open in 2017, the right-hander from Illinois recorded her 12th victory of the season on Wednesday, the highest total on the women’s circuit.
Winner of the Adelaide tournament at the beginning of January, Keys lined up her 10th victory in a row against Svitolina.

However, she took time to find the fault, missing two break points at the start of the match, while Svitolina hit the mark on her first opportunity to win the first set 6-3.
In the second act, Keys needed five break points to finally take his opponent’s faceoff (4-2), the set ending with the same score as the first, but with a different winner (6- 3).
The American managed to take Svitolina’s serve a second time at 2-2 in the third set and managed her advantage until the victory (6-4), acquired after almost two hours of play.
