La Gantoise clearly seems to intend to strengthen this winter. This was confirmed by sports director Arnar Vidarsson.
La Gantoise and Wouter Vrancken decided to part ways on Tuesday, by mutual agreement according to the club’s official press release.
If Vrancken was the first fuse to blow, president Sam Baro has already harshly criticized his players and declared that he expected more from a core in which he invested 30 million euros.
Arnar Vidarsson, sporting director of the Buffalos, said during this Tuesday’s press conference that Ghent still plans to strike hard during the winter transfer window. “It is very difficult to find a quality striker who is affordable at the same time,” he admitted in comments relayed by Het Laatste Nieuws. With Max Dean’s injury, this is Ghent’s priority at the moment.
-“There are a lot of things to consider in the current files. Currently, we are actively working on three striker files. First of all, it is a young striker who could also play for the reserve team , but also Dante Vanzeir and Rwan Cruz from Ludogorets”, Vidarsson then reveals, who goes even further.
“If it is possible, we will finalize these three files. That is in any case our wish. Then we will have more than enough quality, also on the bench, to achieve our ambitions”, he concludes.
