After three losses in a row, Monday’s 3-1 victory over the Colorado Avalanche did the Minnesota Wild and its goaltender Marc-André Fleury a world of good. In fact, his teammates may have played too well.

The Wild players managed to neutralize opposing attacks so well in the first half of the game that the Quebecer didn’t have much to do. Halfway through this match, the “Avs” had only thrown five times towards his cage.

“I felt strange, almost cold,” Fleury said at a press briefing, laughing. I was like, “We’re so good right now.” During this time, [Mackenzie] Blackwood was making all kinds of spectacular saves. It’s nice to see the guys playing so well.”

His Avalanche counterpart was much busier than him, making save after save. Fleury was surprised by a maneuver from Nathan MacKinnon at the end of the second period, but it was the only warning shot for the home team at the Ball Arena.

Colorado ultimately finished the game with 27 shots.

The 40-year-old veteran is having a great time in 2025 with four wins in his last five starts. He maintained a .932 save percentage and had a shutout during this stretch.
