Last Saturday, Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar broke the milestone of 100 career NHL goals. He thereby became the fastest active defender to accomplish this feat. During this match, another player reached this important plateau.
The former Montreal Canadiens, Jonathan Drouin, scored his 100th goal in the Bettman circuit following a pass from another former member of the CHArthur Lehkonen. A play started from the bottom of the defensive zone by Josh Manson.
With 579 games in the NHL, Yeah Drou only participated in 15 games with the Avs this season. Burdened by several injuries since the start of the campaign, he has beaten the opposing goalkeeper 4 times and has accumulated 10 assists so far. Drafted third overall in the 2013 auction, he began his career with the Tampa Bay Lightning where he spent three seasons.
Traded to Tricolor in June 2017 in return for defender Mikhail Sergachev, the Quebecer quickly fell into the good graces of supporters of CH without even having played a single match. #92, who will become #27 in 2022, played six seasons with Sainte-Flanelle. A rather respectable first half which gave way to three much more difficult seasons thereafter.
The former Halifax Mooseheads hit the back of the opposing net 48 times in 321 games. However, 10 of these goals came over a period of three seasons where Drouin himself admitted to experiencing a low point in his career.
-In July 2023, the left winger found a buyer in the Western Conference. The Colorado Avalanche offered a one-year contract worth $825,000, joining his friend and former teammate, Nathan MacKinnon.
Drouin is currently completing the only and final year of his contract worth 2.5 million. He will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
Do you think the Avalanche will do it again?
