European footgolf champions in this town of Seine-Maritime

“It’s an indescribable feeling and great pride in winning a prize under the colors of the French flag. » Indeed, you have to experience it to feel it.

But Agathe Levieux can testify to this, sinceshe won, with the French team, the European footgolf championship which took place in Türkiye from December 9 to 13.

“An incredible experience” for the Norman who practices this sport on the Saint-Saënnais golf courses, in Seine-Maritimefor only the second year with the Rouen métropole footgolf club.

First selection

If Agathe Levieux played football for 20 years, she decided to turn to footgolf, which she discovered thanks to an initiation when the sport appeared in Normandy.

« There is less risk of contact and injuryindicates the 27-year-old player. And then it’s the perfect mix of the two sportswhich we always practice in very beautiful places. And it was also to play with my father, who is the treasurer of the club, that I wanted to learn. »

No one knew each other on the team at first.

After a few years of playing less diligently, comes the opportunity to play with the French team.

Seven players, selected throughout France (two from Tours, three from Alsace, one from Paris and one from Rouen) based on their stage results and their state of mind, are heading to Turkey at the beginning of December to compete the European team championship.

First victory

25 nations dont 10 women’s teams were represented at this European Championship.

“It wasn’t easy at first since we were used to meeting each other as adversaries, not as teammates,” explains Agathe Levieux. We got to know each other, in the game and outside since we were staying in the same place. »

And, after getting acquainted, walked 120 km on the grounds for 5 days, the seven players win the final against Spain and win the European footgolf championship.

It is an immense pride to win a prize under the French flag.

“It was incredible. First selection and first victorywe couldn’t believe it.A magnificent collective victory, our cohesion is really what allowed us to win», Describes the player.

Who doesn’t plan to stop there since in January 2025 she will fly to Marrakech to compete in the final of the French championship, before participating in the footgolf world championship in 2026.
