Olympic slalom champion and former giant world champion Petra Vlhova must withdraw from the world championships in Saalbach. It will not be returned in time after a cruciate ligament tear.
Vlhova thus lost the battle against time, as her coach Mauro Pini explained in a press release published by the Slovakian’s management. “His knee rehabilitation is finally going in the right direction“, declared the Ticino, “but the setbacks of December and January prevent him from participating in the World Championships“.
Petra Vlhova now already has her sights set on the Olympic Games which will take place in a year’s time in Cortina d’Ampezzo. The overall winner of the 2021 World Cup had torn her cruciate and internal ligaments exactly a year ago during her home race in Jasna.
