The roof of the Desjardins-Université Laval amphitheater almost exploded on Sunday as it was packed with jubilant soccer fans, eager to meet Brazilian soccer legend Ronaldinho.
Despite a brief appearance, the Brazilian, World Cup champion in 2002, took the time to greet the crowd and shake a few hands at the start of the afternoon, while he seemed visibly touched by the love sent to him by the approximately 2000 young people present.

“It’s absolutely crazy to have the chance to see a legend like him in person. I’m going to remember it for the rest of my life, that’s for sure,” said Ludovick Germain a few minutes after the 2005 Ballon d’Or winner waved him.

A photo please?
A few lucky people had the opportunity to be photographed in the company of the former soccer glory.
“It was one of my dreams to be able to meet him one day. I watched so many replays of his matches on video. His track record is impressive and I can’t believe I really met him,” reveals Thomas Morin, who still seemed on cloud nine after the athlete’s visit.

The stands emptied at lightning speed when the Brazilian started taking photos with the selected groups. However, all the fans rushed towards the star hoping to be able to take a photo with him.
-“We’re trying. A moment like that only happens once in a lifetime, so I was sure I was going to try my luck. I didn’t manage to get a photo with him, but I was able to see him up close,” said a teenager, laughing.

A small gesture, a big difference
A 9-year-old child who is currently fighting illness had a nice surprise when the athlete stopped to take an individual photo and sign his jersey.
“It was really a dream for me,” Zac Lastufka told Journal after exchanging a few words with the former FC Barcelona star.

His mother also admitted that she was extremely touched to be able to allow her son to realize one of his dreams even though it seemed unattainable.
“He is in clinical trials for his illness, so to be able to experience a moment like this today, it brings him a little light and hope. It’s a small gesture that makes a big difference,” she explains.
