The controversy surrounding the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor at FC Barcelona has found an official echo. José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, president of the Superior Sports Council (CSD), broke the silence by explaining the decision to allow the two players to continue playing in La Liga. A decision taken in response to an appeal from Barça, and which, according to Uribes, responds to a fundamental principle: avoiding any harm to the players concerned. “We would have acted in the same way for any other club or player in these circumstances,” he said, rejecting any accusation of preferential treatment towards the Catalan club.
Protect players
Rodríguez Uribes stressed that this provisional measure, taken pending a definitive resolution of the conflict between LaLiga, the RFEF and the club, did not call into question the rules of Financial Fair Play or sporting fairness. For him, the objective is clear: to protect the players, in particular Dani Olmo, a key member of the national team, from a situation of uncertainty that could harm their career. This approach has also received the approval of Spain coach Luis de la Fuente. A way for the CSD to reaffirm its impartial role and place players’ rights at the heart of its priorities.
