We’ve had a hard time but we’re at the finish and that’s the main thing

To say that de Mévius and Baumel were happy to get it over with this Friday is an understatement. The two boys finished with the 10th time in the final special of the event and with the final 23rd place overall, eight hours behind the leaders.

“It was a very difficult Dakar for us, we struggled but we are at the finish and that is the main thing”comments Guillaume. “On this last day of racing, we had fun. It’s a shame that this last stage was way too short.”

Mathieu Baumel, who has seen tons with Nasser Al-Attiyah in the past, played the wise old man. He knows that the situation can only improve and that X-Raid has not become a has-been in the space of twelve months.

“Guillaume showed great things, he had a very good rhythm,” he indicates. “We will now take stock of everything that went wrong, and we will work towards the next event in Abu Dhabi. We will aim for the podium, or even victory there.”
