It was predictable, and it’s now official: Keano Vanrafelghem is joining KV Mechelen.
Keano Vanrafelghem is officially a new Mechelen player. The club announced his signing on Thursday via its official channels.
Aged 21, the young striker signed a four and a half year contract with the club. Originally from West Flanders, Vanrafelghem trained at Club Brugge, where he played for Club NXT.
In the winter of 2023, he joined Patro Eisden Maasmechelen, who immediately loaned him to Sporting Hasselt. A wise choice, since he left a strong impression there.
This season, he confirmed his potential by scoring eight goals and providing six assists in 15 matches for Patro in the CPL. Keano Vanrafelghem briefly expressed his feelings following his signing: “I can’t wait to play my first match in the stadium. I have already followed several matches on television, and the atmosphere there has always left an impression on me. Mechelen was clearly one of the clubs where I dreamed of playing. I am very happy to be here and I will wear these colors with pride,” he confided.
