Department of Player Safety | NHL fines Jack McBain and Johnathan Kovacevic

(New York) Utah Hockey Club forward Jack McBain and New Jersey Devils defenseman Johnathan Kovacevic received fines from the NHL Department of Player Safety on Wednesday.

McBain was relieved of US$4,166.67 for a stick hit to the face by Montreal Canadiens forward Brendan Gallagher on Tuesday in the Canadiens’ 5-3 victory over Utah HC.

For his part, Kovacevic was fined $1,996.53 for a double-check against Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk, also Tuesday, in the Panthers’ 2-1 shootout victory over the Devils .

McBain and Kovacevic received minor penalties in the sequences.

The amounts of the two fines are the maximums allowed according to the collective agreement.

The money will be donated to the Emergency Player Assistance Fund.
