the essential
Five months after the reopening of the club which followed three months of closure, a consequence of the liquidation of the association, Jean-Christophe Maurette, the new president of Stade Toulousain Padel takes stock of the situation of the association.

It’s like it never stopped. Entering the site of the Stade Toulousain Tennis Padel where life has returned to normal, one cannot imagine that on May 30, the club was forced to close its doors following the judicial liquidation of the association resulting in three months of silence, of nothingness… Fierce games of padel animate the outside while the sound of balls being hit on the indoor tennis courts resonates behind the large bay window where the tables of the clubhouse and its bar-restaurant welcome once again customers. Jean-Christophe Maurette, the president of the new association and his team are enjoying the return to life of this regional tennis institution.

Already 700 members

“We find ourselves with 700 members out of the 900 to 1,000 we had before the closure. It’s rather good because we had counted on 600 members in our recovery plan,” explains Jean-Christophe Maurette, who set the objective in 2025 “to find 900 members. » As for employees (administrative staff, teachers, site maintenance workers), 90% of the previous team has returned to their position. “It’s essential because given the structure, it couldn’t work without them,” continues our interlocutor who is delighted that the general assembly will be held in mid-December: “We have resumed good habits. The projections are balanced which is perfect for a first year. The members welcomed our work and our way of taking over the club. »

If the atmosphere is serene and the outlook rather positive, it is because the new management team has restored order at all levels, notably financial where Jean-Christophe Maurette intends to “relaunch our partnership policy which is reduced today ‘today’, but which has already put in place profitable contracts such as that of the restaurant now managed by Stade Toulousain rugby; that of padel courts entrusted to Casa Padel, a major player in the sector; finally the club store entrusted to the Sports Raquettes brand. So many partners who pay rent to the STTP which allows the association to operate.

On the tennis side, Jean-Christophe Maurette wants “the club to find young people at the high level. We want to raise our level in these categories”, he insists, welcoming in passing the involvement of the club’s professional players (Doumbia, Reboul, Arribagé, Cayre) “who played the Interclub season for free”, appreciates the stadium president before concluding: “I think we have not missed the turn of recovery. 2025 is a new beginning for us. » Who must put the Stadium back in its rightful place.
