To attack the return phase of the National 2 championship, this Saturday January 18, FC Saint-Pryvé/Saint-Hilaire will host La Roche-sur-Yon, not on the lawn of its Grand-Clos stadium but in Compiègne!
The club chaired by Jean-Bernard Legroux was sanctioned after the incidents which marred the end of the match against Bourges Foot on November 2. He was notably suspended for two matches (one of which was suspended) from the Grand-Clos stadium.
Lots of parameters to master
But why go so far for a fallback stadium? The land already had to be more than 50 km from Saint-Pryvé. Then, it had to be approved for a National 2 meeting (level T2, T3 tolerated). It was also necessary to find a club capable of hosting this meeting and finally the agreement of a municipality rather inclined to preserve its lawn in these times.
This was a lot of parameters and this explains this disproportionate distance (230 km separate Saint-Pryvé and Compiègne). “We were already warned by the FFF on December 23. With the holidays, it was not easy to turn around,” indicates Philippe Gaillard, the general secretary of the Pryvatain club. “In Malesherbes, for example, the land was not approved. Tours, Blois and Romorantin are playing at home this weekend. The Avoine club agreed but not the town hall…”
Otherwise, it was a lost match…
Additionally, the deadline to provide the name of the fallback stadium was last Friday (January 10). Otherwise, it was a lost match with a bonus penalty point. “Compiègne is far away, but we had knowledge at the club and that made organizing this match easier,” continues Philippe Gaillard. It will be even further for the La Roche-sur-Yon team, forced to travel 500 km to play this match.
