New change of face in the fight for maintenance, Mechelen misses the opportunity to return to the top 6 – All football

For the first time since the beginning of November, Cercle is no longer in the red zone. Bruges beat Mechelen.

Le Cercle has just completed a fifth match without defeat. Better, the Groen en Zwart won 1-0 against the Malinois. The only goal of the match was scored shortly after the half-hour mark by Felipe Augustowhich was purchased this summer in view of the departure of Kévin Denkey.

Coming to the Jan Breydelstadion with a record of only one victory in their last eight matches, Mechelen remains feverish. KV had the ball, but the best chances were Bruges.

The ranking continues to tighten

In the second half, Ortwin De Wolf had to pull out all the stops to deflect another attempt from Felipe Augusto onto his bar with his fingertips.

A spectacular save which had the merit of keeping the visitors in the match. In vain: the last Malinois attacks were too timid to bring about a division.

The men of Besnik Hasi thus missing the opportunity to come back to within one point of the top 6. The fight for the top 6 is still as uncertain given the irregularity of each side. The bottom of the table is even tighter: Cercle leaves the red zone for the first time in two months and even comes back to three points behind Mechelen, it is now Westerlo which virtually slips into Playdowns.
