Barcelona won the Spanish Super Cup in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The Catalans beat Real Madrid 5-2 in a spectacular, goal-rich final.
This second Clasico of the season therefore also smiled on Barça, who won the first in the championship 4-0 on the lawn of their centuries-old rival. This time again, Madrid’s defense suffered terribly against the percussion and speed of the Blaugrana attackers.
Against the run of play, Mbappé gave Real the advantage in the 5th, while Courtois had already made two decisive saves in front of Yamal (2nd) then Raphinha (4th). But Barça completely turned the match around even before the break, thanks to goals from Yamal 22nd), Lewandowski (36th/pen), Raphinha (39th) and Balde (45th).
On the restart, Rodrygo found the bar before Raphinha, with another dazzling counterattack, hit the nail on the head (48th). Barça was then reduced to ten after the expulsion of goalkeeper Szczesny, for a foul on Mbappé outside the area (56th).
On the free kick that followed, Rodrygo deceived Pena, who had just entered the Catalan cage (60th). But even with numerical superiority for more than half an hour, Real were unable to question the outcome of the match.
