Everything started well on the floor of Loire-Atlantique, as explained by the coach, Fabien Simondet, who officiated on the bench in place of Frédéric Havas: “We start the match very well, even very wellassures the coach. We put Nantes under pressure. We were aggressive and we won the first set quite easily.”
“We made too many mistakes at the end of the set”
The second set could have been the turning point of the game. “We’re off to a good start, we’re leading by four or five points, everything we’ve put in place is workingconfirms Fabien Simondet. But we made too many mistakes at the end of the set, and I think we put the Neptunes (the nickname of the Nantaises, Editor’s note) back in the match,” deplores the coach.
An observation that is all the more bitter in the face of formidable training: “They are one of the best, if not the best team in the championshipregrets the coach. We shouldn’t have given them so much confidence.”
“The Nantes women are more aggressive”
The Nantes women, liberated, gradually gained the upper hand : “They became more aggressive on serve, and we were poor at receiving. We were a little scattered, we wanted to do too well, and unfortunately, we accumulated mistakes,” analyzes the coach.
Despite the defeat, Fabien Simondet remains optimistic: “It was not an easy trip. We will now focus on the Coupe de France match, Tuesday January 14, at home, against Venelles, then on a more favorable schedule for the end of the championship.”
