The visitors’ goal was scored just before half-time, thanks to an individual exploit from Matthéo Xantippe, who eliminated two players before finding Théo Valls at the far post, alone to finish (45th + 1). The bill could have been heavier, but Caen goalkeeper Anthony Mandréa produced a high-level performance, with several complicated saves (17th, 44th, 53rd). Valentin Henry’s red card, for an intentional kick, sealed Caen’s hopes of coming back to score. Grenoble left side Arial Mendy was also excluded (88th).
