Wilfried Zaha, OL winger (credit: David Hernandez)
This Thursday, two days before the trip to Brest, Pierre Sage was able to count on a full group. After starting the session with the 20 other outfield players, Paul Akouokou, Wilfried Zaha and Mahamadou Diawara carried out a session aside.
Pierre Sage wants to see his group reduced and we can understand that. This Thursday, the OL coach had no absence to deplore, apart from Enzo A leech who will play the Gambardella Cup with the Lyon U18s. The supporters are not going to complain to see the Lyon group being complete, but this logically pushes Sage having to make choices on match days and now even in training. Two days before the trip to Brest, there were 23 outfield players to start the session.
But this total quickly dropped to 20, once the muscular awakening was over. Indeed, while the rest of the group headed towards part of the GOLTC field 2 to begin ball exercises, Mahamadou DiawaraPaul Akouokou et Wilfried Zaha took a completely different direction. That of one of the fields annexed to the training center with Alexandre Farhione of the physical trainers of the professional group.
Three players starting?
If we will logically have to wait for Pierre Sage’s speech on the subject, this could very much resemble working on the sidelines during this transfer window period. With a message which could be that of three players who should not be part of OL’s plans for the second half of the season. Anything but a surprise for Akouokouon the sidelines since July, and even Zahawho failed to integrate and was announced to the MLS. A little more for Diawara who remained in the rotation despite little playing time.
