Incarcerated since the end of March 2024, Robinho must serve a nine-year prison sentence following his conviction for gang rape, committed in Italy, in 2013. At the time, he played for AC Milan, after his stints at Real Madrid (2005-2008) and Manchester City (2008-2010). Italian justice ruled in 2017, but the Court of Cassation only confirmed the decision in 2022. The Brazilian High Court of Justice then decided that his sentence would be served in Brazil.

No fewer than 430 inmates live in this São Paulo prison. Including several “celebrities” like former deputy Luiz Estevao, journalist Antonio Marcos Pimenta das Neves and other infamous criminals. There, Robinho follows a program of 600 hours of electronics courses which should allow him to prepare for his life afterward. For example, he could repair televisions and other devices.
-His lawyer, Mario Rosso Vale, recently explained to Sun that his client had behaved in an exemplary manner since his arrival at the penitentiary. “He keeps his head down and walks calmly… he is an exemplary prisoner and has had no problems with the other inmates.”he assured after explaining that Santos’ child had been given soccer shoes to play with the other detainees.
Remember that Robinho has always proclaimed his innocence. He admitted to having had a brief relationship – but in a consensual manner – with the victim on the famous night of the events. But claims to have returned home when other people joined the room. The jury decided otherwise.
