an agreement finally reached to ensure its future

While The future of Galeria's Marine House promised to be obscure, due to a lack of solution found between the municipality of Galeria, owner of the building, and the Corsica Regional Natural Park (PNRC), manager of this environmental education house regarding the renewal of its rental lease or the sale of its walls, an agreement was finally reached, this Saturday, January 18, during a meeting which was held in the greatest discretion, at Court.

It is within the Pasquale-Paoli school campus that a mediation committee* bringing together all the stakeholders in this thorny issue was organized with one objective: to find common ground so that this environmental education space designed aimed at schools continues to carry out its missions.

This mediation thus enabled the conclusion of a double agreement.

The first directly linked to the main issue since “the sale of the Casa Marina building, at a price satisfactory to both parties and agreed between them, settled with support from the Corsican Community”, was recorded, according to a press release sent by the rectorate. “The vocation of the structure is reinforced and perpetuated”.

“Strengthen the attendance and influence” of the site

But also, on a second side, namely, “the commitment of all parties represented at today's meeting, to jointly implement a new phase of development of the Casa Marina in order to strengthen its attendance and influence, in Corsica and beyond”we can read in this same document.

To provide a framework and concretize this second point which was included in the agreement reached this Saturday, January 18 regarding the sale of the Casa Marina de Galeria, “an agreement of objectives between all the parties represented today in Corti (…) will be presented and signed in the weeks to come”.

An agreement which marks the end of a tumultuous standoff between the PNRC and the municipality of Galeria which began several months ago. And ensures the continuity of educational missions carried out within the establishment.

*The committee was composed of Gilles Simeoni, president of the executive council of Corsica, Rémi-François Paolini, rector of the Académie de Corsica, Ange-Pierre Vivoni and Jean-Jacques Ciccolini, respectively presidents of the associations of mayors of Haute-Corse and of Corse-du-Sud, Jean-Marie Seité, mayor of Galeria and Jacques Costa, president of the PNRC
