Thursday saw some twists and turns on the Dakar 2025, between Alula and Hail. Although he finished the race as leader, Frenchman Adrien Van Beveren first lost his victory following a two-minute penalty (speeding). He finished 47 seconds ahead of Luciano Benavides. The latter ultimately prevails. The leader of the general classification, Sanders, received an 8’10 penalty, which restarts this Dakar 2025 for motorcycles.

Nasser al-Attiyah suffered the same fate in the cars (10 minute penalty) a few minutes later. It was ultimately Quintero who won, as in the first stage, by just a second! The Toyota driver initially finished between Al-Attiyah and Ekström during the race but 9’59 behind the leader. Lategan still dominates the general classification with 10’17 ahead of Al-Rajhi, after inflicting 3’23 on him on this special.

On Friday, the drivers will be able to rest after a “48 hour” stage and a marathon stage which put their nerves to the test.
