Léo Schwechlen, captain of Tours FC, announced his departure. He also spoke about the deplorable situation which reigns in the club targeted by two judicial liquidation procedures.
Formerly a resident of Division 1, Tours FC is now on the brink of collapse. Eliminated on the green carpet of the Coupe de France, when it had to face Lorient in the 32nd final (a decision of the FFF given the impossibility for the club to ensure the security of the meeting), the club of Indre- et-Loire has just lost its captain, the emblematic Léo Schwechlen, defender of the club between 2011 and 2015 who returned in 2023.

A departure which can be explained by the catastrophic situation of the club, targeted by two judicial liquidation procedures, which will be studied on January 14 and 16. The day after his announcement, Léo Schwechlen confided the reasons to Ici Touraine: “When we find ourselves having to advance salaries and rents to other players who are in a precarious situation, it is because there is a problem somewhere. I had a minimum federal contract to be registered but the majority of my salary has never been paid since the start of the season” he explained.

He also revealed degraded living conditions at the club, where locker room showers were removed “because the company in charge of this had not been paid.”
The defender, who stressed that he “had the chance to play for six months with an extraordinary group of players of which (he was) proud to be the captain”, summed up the situation by describing it as “unbearable”.
