As Africa Top Sports indicated a few months ago, Eric Sékou Chelle arrives in Nigeria on the bench of the Super Eagles.
The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has formalized the appointment of Eric Sékou Chelle as the new coach of the Super Eagles. This choice marks an important turning point for Nigerian football, as the team seeks to strengthen its competitiveness on the African and international scene.
Former defender, Éric Sékou Chelle spent his entire professional career in France, where he played for several renowned clubs. Between 2003 and 2006, he made 6 caps with the Mali national team, bringing his defensive solidity and experience to the service of the Eagles.
After hanging up his boots, Chelle began a coaching career, working in France’s lower divisions before becoming Mali coach in 2022. Under his leadership, the Eagles reached the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) 2023, demonstrating his ability to lead a team at the highest level.
His arrival at the head of the Super Eagles raises a lot of hope among Nigerian supporters, who expect him to bring Nigeria back to the top of African football. With a team brimming with talent, Chelle now has the mission to build a competitive group and aim for the next major titles.
The challenge is daunting, but Chelle’s experience and leadership may well be the keys to success. The next few months promise to be decisive for the Super Eagles and their new coach.
