The Moroccan international’s coach, Eliesse Ben Seghir, left to stay in Monaco. The Principality club announced on Saturday the extension of the contract of Austrian technician, Adi Hütter, 54, until June 2027, although it expired at the end of the season.

Currently in Doha with his team to play the Champions Trophy against , Hütter had agreed several days ago with the management of the Monegasque club, in particular with the general director Thiago Scuro, for a two-season extension, after having perfectly fulfilled the objectives requested for a season and a half.

“I am very happy and proud, it is a project of which I am part”, reacted the person concerned from Doha.

The Austrian, who arrived free in Monaco in the summer of 2023, qualified the club for the Champions League at the end of his first season, finishing second in the championship. This season, Monaco is still on the podium in Ligue 1 and remains in a favorable position to qualify for the Champions League play-offs (currently 16th out of 36).

But it is above all the offensive play advocated by the Austrian coach during his 60 meetings at the head of the team, which seduced the Monegasque management, as well as his ability to bring out young talents, such as Maghnes Akliouche or Eliesse Ben Seghir, who the club needs to highlight in order to transfer them.

Sunday, against Paris during the Champions Trophy, Hütter will have the opportunity to allow Monaco to win their first trophy since the title of French champion acquired in 2017 with Leonardo Jardim.

Before coaching ASM, Hütter notably won the Austrian championship title with Salzburg in 2015, the Swiss championship title with Young Boys Bern in 2018, but also managed the German clubs Borussia Mönchengladbach and Eintracht Frankfurt, with whom he played in a Europa League semi-final in 2019.
