They went through hell in 2024 (3/6): sexual assault, rape and psychological violence, Wissam Ben Yedder surrounded by business

How did Ben Yedder end up in detention? The answer can be found a few hours earlier in the story of a sordid night. After midnight, a 23-year-old young woman has just taken refuge in a gas station on the Côte d’Azur. She then reports an alcoholic man who allegedly tried to abuse her. At the start of the evening, Ben Yedder is parked in a parking lot, fueled by whiskey and coke when he crosses paths with a group of young people with whom he is chatting. The young woman and a man end up getting into his vehicle, undoubtedly reassured by the man they recognized. Everything changes when the young man gets out of the car.

Drinking helped me stop thinking. When I drink, I’m not me

The player’s lawyers always contested the legal classification of sexual assault during the trial which was held last October. Ben Yedder confessed to the traffic offenses but took refuge behind alcohol while apologizing to the victim. “Drinking helped me stop thinking. When I drink, I’m not me. Now I’m taking care of myself. I try. I spoke with lots of patients and I understood that it was not the best remedy because I was hurting myself and others.”he stammers.

Neither this mea culpa, nor the two weeks spent in detoxification with psychological and psychiatric support prevent him from receiving this sentence pronounced on October 15 by the criminal court, which was more sensitive to the prosecutor’s argument for who Ben Yedder “considered that the victim was a piece of meat” : two years suspended prison sentence with registration in the file of perpetrators of sexual offenses, obligation of care and compensation for the victim.

And the striker could revisit the famous scorers’ ketchup theory in his own way since this conviction could well not be the last as Ben Yedder rhymes with business. Since summer 2023, WBY has been under judicial control. The reason? These two complaints of which he is the subject with his brother for rape and sexual assault in a case still ongoing, he who paid 900,000 euros in bail. Another case: that which pits him against his former agent Meïssa N’Diaye whom he accuses of having falsified representation contracts and had 4 million seized as a precautionary measure. Those closest to him also exploded.

Initially, Ben Yedder was also due to appear on December 27 for psychological violence resulting in total incapacity for work for more than eight days against his former wife who was placed under protection after her complaint last February where she described “a sick man.” But the file was postponed until May 21, 2025. All while L’Équipe Magazine revealed another scandal: WBY allegedly paid 1.6 million euros to a former Monaco player so that she would not file a complaint for rape in early 2023.

So many affairs which are now the daily life of a striker who was formidable and who played his 201st and last match with Monaco on May 19 against , shaking the nets for the 118th time, consolidating his rank as second best goalscorer in club history. Which, at the end of a new season with 20 goals, could have allowed him both to find a club and potentially to be in on September 6. To wipe away the cold anger of Mike Maignan rather than the questions of the Cap d’Ail gendarmes.
