Leon Draisaitl already scores his 28th goal of the season

On a night where the Montreal Canadiens lost 4 to 2 against the Chicago Blackhawks, we were treated to four other games across the National Hockey League.

Indeed, eight other teams were in action.

Here’s what caught the eye in these four games.

1. A 28th goal already this season for Leon Draisaitl

The Edmonton Oilers are truly fortunate to have two franchise players in Connor McDavid and Leon Draisatil.

We often forget how both are equally strong as each other, as McDavid often overshadows Draisaitl.

This season however, the German player is truly sensational.

He’s scoring goals at a completely ridiculous rate, and he’s 2nd in scoring in the NHL.

Last night, he scored his 28th goal of the season, giving him a five-goal lead over the second top scorer in the NHL.

Draisaitl is currently maintaining a pace of 60 goals, who continued his streak of games with at least one point at 13 with this goal.

He has 11 goals and 14 assists during this streak.

The crazy thing about all of this is that Draisaitl doesn’t just accumulate his points on the power play.

He is also dominant at five-on-five.

In short, Draisaitl is having quite a season.

2. The Preds shut out the Canucks

Much to everyone’s surprise, the Nashville Predators are having a disastrous season.

Everyone expected them to be dominant with their new acquisitions, but in the end, the cake never rose.

They are languishing in the depths of the NHL, while nothing is going well.

However, that doesn’t stop them from playing spoilsport against teams fighting for the playoffs, like the Vancouver Canucks.

The Canucks currently occupy the last place giving access to the playoffs in the West, and therefore, every point is important.

Last night, however, they escaped, as they were shut out 3-0 against the Nashville Predators.

Juuse Saros thus obtained his 4th shutout of the season, which places him 2nd in the entire NHL.

3. Hat trick for Brandon Saad

The Ottawa Senators have been trying to hang on to the playoffs for a few weeks now, and they’re holding on considering there are a lot of bad teams in the East.

Their 19-17-2 record is good enough right now, but they can’t afford too many missteps.

And last night, they unfortunately made one by being blanked 4-0 by the Saint-Louis Blues.

Brandon Saad scored a hat trick in this match.

With this defeat of the Senators, the Montreal Canadiens remain only three points from the playoffs.

4. Panthers win in shootout thanks to Sam Reinhart

The Pittsburgh Penguins had the chance to overtake the Ottawa Senators in 8th and last place giving access to the playoffs last night by winning against the Florida Panthers.

Unfortunately for the Penguins, they only got one point, which currently places them tied with the Senators.

It was Sam Reinhart who gave the Florida Panthers a 3-2 victory.
