We emphasize it excessively, but the return to action of Patrik Laine and the arrival of the 28-year-old brigadier, Alexandre Carrier, have cemented something among the Montreal Canadiens. Laine brings a confidence that has rubbed off on his teammates. And Carrier, for his part, brings stability to a defensive brigade which now has three duos bordering on perfection.
We are not the only ones to see how much a Laine and a Carrier are changing the game within this group. Assistant coach Trevor Letowski is one of those who noticed that his addition stabilized several things within the locker room and the defense.
“Within the team, he is a very valuable element. I don’t know if he gets much credit outside the locker room, but he deserves it. He was a very good player for us. It’s very consistent, we know what we’re getting. We got to know him very quickly. He played well from his first appearance on the ice and in training. He’s been a nice addition for us.” – Letowski
With Kaiden Guhle, he forms an excellent pair and it is very effective in all three zones, since both teammates are mobile, use their stick well and know exactly when to jump into the rush. Carrier is able to put points on his scorecard, having accumulated four in six games with the Habs.
Since the start of this 2024-25 calendar, Carrier has allowed himself to pick up 11 points in 34 duels, while playing an average of 19 minutes 41 minutes with the Montreal Canadiens and presenting a differential of +2 (with the CH) . With the Nashville Predators, he was used on average for 20:08 minutes by Andrew Brunette. This data proves its effectiveness when found on the icy surface.
Note that the new element of blue-white-red is very delighted to find itself within a group as tightly woven as that of this Sainte-Flanelle. The atmosphere within the group is at its height and they are certainly aware that they have something to do with it.
