BREAKING Huerta’s arrival at Anderlecht delayed? The player is in mourning!

Anderlecht are on the verge of transferring César “Chino” Huerta but the transaction could be delayed: the Mexican footballer is in mourning following the death of his grandmother, María Elena Lugo Sayavedra.

The Club Universidad Nacional Pumas of UNAM announced this sad news via its account on X.

“Pumas UNAM deeply regrets the passing of the grandmother of César “Chino” Huerta,” read part of the message from the blue and gold team.

Absent from training

César “Chino” Huerta was absent from UNAM Pumas training on Monday, which took place at the La Cantera facilities.
His absence was initially interpreted as preparation for his trip to Brussels, Belgium, to sign a contract with his future club, Anderlecht.

However, his absence from training was due to personal reasons, so that he could be with his grandmother in these difficult times.

She died the day he was supposed to fly

The death of María Elena Lugo Sayavedra occurred precisely on the day “Chino” Huerta was supposed to board the plane for Europe.

Some journalistic and social media sources had said he would travel today.

For tomorrow, Friday, it is assumed that the medical examinations are scheduled. After successfully passing them, he could sign his contract with Anderlecht.

First match on January 12?

Anderlecht will play its first match of 2025 on Sunday January 12, when it hosts Club Brugge in its stadium for the 21st day of the Pro League. César “Chino” Huerta could make his debut there.
