after 37 matches, CH has the same number of points

If you believe that the Canadian has improved, it’s because it’s true.

Since the arrival of Patrik Laine and Alexandre Carrier, Martin St-Louis’ squad has been doing much better, hence its six victories in its last seven games.

But don’t let the good streak make you forget the bad start to the season. And this bad start to the season, I’ll put it into perspective for you now. Indeed, after 37 matches this season and last season, CH has exactly the same number of points: 37.

Montreal is 17-17-3 as of January 1, 2025 and was 16-16-5 as of January 2, 2024.

That’s exactly one point per game and the club is holding up very well in a year, so.

This statistic is still quite misleading, because Montreal seems to have improved a lot, especially these days. Also, the band has never been so close to the mix. As of today, they are just three points out of second place among drafted teams and a playoff spot.

Last year, at this time, the Habs were five points from a playoff spot.

It was believed that the competition had improved; it deteriorated. It’s true that the season is far from over, but in January, CH is still in the picture.

Will the club slow down like last year or will it stay in the playoff picture until the very end? For the show, it would be good, but for the reconstruction, no.

The question is worth asking, because after all, Montreal still has the 15th easiest schedule in the NHL between now and the end of the regular season. In recent seasons, we were used to CH having one of the most difficult schedules.

Prolongation

Only one game was presented yesterday in the NHL: the Devils were in Los Angeles.

The Kings ultimately won the match by a score of 3-0. The first shutout of the year 2025 therefore belongs to Darcy Kuemper.

And today, 24 teams are in action.
