Seko Fofana is back in France. After a lucrative freelance stint in Saudi Arabia, the former Racing Lens player signed for Stade Rennais.
After contributing to the excellent period of Racing Lens which finished second only one point behind PSG a year and a half ago, Fofana School had disappointed more than one by opting for Saudi Arabia, signing for Al-Nassr.
Having become a teammate of Cristiano Ronaldo in the Saudi D1, Fofana was then loaned to Al-Etiffaq last year. Back from loan, he now wanted to relaunch in Ligue 1, and it was done: Stade Rennais announced his signing, for 20 million euros.
The Ivorian international (22 caps) has signed in Brittany until 2029. A big blow for Rennes which is only 13th in the ranking and absolutely wants to correct this in 2025 and move away from the red zone.
Winner of the CAN in 2023, Seko Fofana had played 112 matches with Racing Lens before his departure for Saudi Arabia. In the Middle East, the former Manchester City young talent will have played 19 matches for Al-Nassr and 29 this season for Al-Etiffaq.
