As the sporting calendar opens in 2025, African sports fans are on the cusp of an exciting year with numerous events. The year will be notably marked by CAN 2025 which will take place in Morocco, from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026.
CAN 2025 is one of the most anticipated events of the year. The prestigious competition will provide another high-stakes platform for African nations to battle for supremacy. With the golden generation of Moroccan football leading the way, they will face tough challenges from contenders like Senegal, Algeria and Nigeria, making this CAN an unforgettable event.
This year, no less than four CANs will be organized. The CAN U17 will be held in Morocco from March 30 to April 19, followed by the CAN U20 in Ivory Coast from April 26 to May 18. The women’s CAN, postponed for a year, will also take place in Morocco from July 5 to 26.
Indeed, the next Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) promises fierce competition. Taking place in Morocco from July 5-26, reigning champions Banyana Banyana will look to defend their title against formidable rivals such as Nigeria’s Super Falcons, well known for their historic dominance in women’s football.
Hosts Morocco will no doubt look to capitalize on home advantage, backed by passionate fans as the Atlas Lionesses aim for glory after reaching the final in 2022. With formidable talent other nations, including Zambia, led by stars like Barbra Banda and Racheal Kundananji, this tournament is bound to be a thrilling showcase of African football prowess.
CHAN, for its part, reserved for local players, will open the festivities from February 1 to 28 in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
