Goalie Cayden Primeau was ignored by the 31 other NHL teams on waivers and given to the Laval Rocket on Sunday afternoon.
Primeau, who is 25 years old, will have the chance to find his feet in the American Hockey League after a difficult start to the campaign with the Montreal Canadiens.
In 11 outings this fall, including only seven starts, the American goaltender compiled a 2-3-1 record with a 4.70 GAA and an .836 save percentage.
Primeau had success last season, maintaining a 2.99 average with a .910 save percentage in 23 outings, including 21 starts. He had compiled an 8-9-4 record and had his first two career shutouts in the NHL.
A seventh-round pick in 2017, 199th overall, Primeau has an overall record of 13-24-7 in 55 career NHL outings, including 45 starts.
He has not played in the American Hockey League since the 2022-23 season. In his career with the Rocket, Primeau compiled a record of 63-42-12, with a 2.74 GAA and a .909 save percentage.
