Mohamed Salah was impressive again this Sunday during the Reds’ big victory at West Ham. The Egyptian is probably the best player in England at the moment, but will he stay at Liverpool?
At 32 years old, Mo is wrong is in the form of his life: in 18 Premier League matches, he has scored 17 goals and provided 13 assists. The Egyptian is on a mission to win the league title and, perhaps, a Ballon d’Or before the end of his career now that the era of domination of the Messi-Ronaldo duo is over.
But will he stay at Liverpool after this season? Salah reaches the end of his contract next June, and discussions regarding an extension seem to have stalled. At least that’s what the player himself revealed to Sky Sports after his XXL performance against West Ham this Sunday (one goal, two assists).
“I don’t want to say something in the media that makes people talk too much, but we are currently far from an extension,” conceded Mohamed Salah. “Nothing has really changed. I’m focused on the team, I hope to win the Premier League.”
Salah is not looking for controversy and does not want to go to clash with Liverpool either, but his situation is of course problematic: in the event of non-extension, he would leave… for free, which, for a player of his stature, is always a big blow.
“I’m just trying to have fun. I’m always hungry for trophies and I hope to win the championship with Liverpool. We have to stay humble and keep working,” concluded the Egyptian, whose record will still agitate England.
