The Valaisanne and her colleague Wendy Holdener delivered great performances in the first round of the Semmering slalom on Saturday. A new podium is within reach.
Camille Rast and Wendy Holdener are on track for a new podium in slalom. The two Swiss women had a solid first round in Semmering on Sunday to finish 3rd and 4th. Only the Croatian Zrinka Ljutic, exceptional on this Zauberberg track, and the German Lena Duerr were faster.
After her race, Camille Rast did not seem satisfied. At 0″98 behind Zrinka Ljutic, it seemed that Vétrozaine would have to make a big comeback in the second round to climb the box again. Skier after skier, however, finished behind the Valaisanne. The one who said the day before not having yet found the key in Semmering, after her 17th place in giant, is well placed to achieve a new podium and keep her red bib in the discipline.
Wendy Holdener, who has already often delivered good performances in slalom on the Zauberberg, could also make a leap forward and finish on the podium for the third time in the Austrian resort. Mélanie Meillard continues her momentum this winter with a very correct 10th place in the first round, while Eliane Christen, 20th, qualifies for the first time for the second round. Aline Danioth (28th) and Janine Mächler (30th) will also be there.
