Despite sharing on the Mechelen pitch on Thursday, Standard can be satisfied with their first half of the season. Les Rouches are doing better than expected with a current 10th place in the standings.
As often since his arrival at the club, Fergal Harkin had to strengthen the Liège core with a small envelope last summer.
There were some nice moves made with the loan arrivals of Andi Zeqiri, Denis Ayensa and Ilay Camara, but also disappointments like Viktor Djukanovic.
He didn’t really get his chance
The Montenegrin winger nevertheless arrived in Sclessin with a very good reputation. Targeted by Club Brugge and Lazio Rome, the Hammarby player surprised a lot of people by deciding to settle down at Standard.
Djukanovic must bitterly regret this choice. In fact, he has only been entitled to 62 minutes of playing time since the start of the season! Ivan Leko is not counting on him at all and would have already told him that he could return to his club in January.
A transfer to Türkiye?
Fortunately for Djukanovic, several clubs are already ready to welcome him. After being cited at Empoli, the Montenegrin is announced for Konyaspor. The Turkish club is looking for reinforcements to move away from the red zone (they are only 5 points ahead of the first relegation).
