Sent off against LOSC for throwing a ball in the face of Gabriel Gudmundsson, Mustapha Benzia received a 7-match suspension by the French Football Federation.
A week ago, to the day, FC Rouen 1899 hosted LOSC in the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France. Dominant throughout the match despite a few scares, it was logical that his men pocketed a success (0-1), Ismaily shook the nets (22′), and qualification for the next round. The end of the match was, however, marked by the expulsion of Mustapha Benzia (34 years old). In added time, while Gabriel Gudmundsson had jostled him slightly, he threw the leather at the back of his head. The Swede then collapsed while Stéphanie Frappart showed the red card (90+3′).
FC Rouen 1899, resident of National, quickly reacted on social networks. On its X account, its managers indicate that they are initiating procedures: “The club regrets the extent of the sanction and will appeal this decision. We will keep you informed of possible outcomes”we can read (see below).
LOSC, which will face Olympique de Marseille in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France, had already witnessed the severity of the French Football Federation. It was among the women with the long-term suspension received by Amandine Henry for one of her first appearances in the Lille jersey. His adventure, despite an appeal, had thus been reduced by half.
