Lierse did not remain without a coach for long. Jamath Shoffner is the new coach of the Challenger Pro League club.
Lierse recently thanked Christophe Grégoire from his position as head coach. The latter, visibly bitter, declared that the disappointing results were not only due to the coach, but also to a lack of quality within the team.
To turn the page, the club formalized the arrival of Jamath Shoffner as new coach. Shoffner, aged 46, was still active last season at the head of KV Ostend, in a difficult year marked by the club's bankruptcy.
In an interview with Gazet van Antwerpen, the American coach shared his personal vision of the profession: “A stable family situation is essential for me to be able to work calmly and effectively as a coach. I know that some of my colleagues choose to settle near the club, sometimes far from their family. For me, it doesn't work that way.”
Shoffner emphasizes the importance of staying close to those close to you to excel: “I have to be close to my wife and my five children to give the best of myself. Six months ago, the conditions were not suitable for this. not, but this time, everything aligned perfectly and you can be sure that my motivation is immense to make the most of this experience in Lierse.”
Shoffner will officially take office on January 2, when he will lead his first practice with the team.
