The president of Drancy did not hide his disappointment after the defeat against FC Nantes in the 32nd final of the Coupe de France, after learning that the Ligue 1 club did not leave him the entire proceeds.
It is customary in the Coupe de France to see professional clubs leave 100% of the match revenue to amateur clubs but Nantes did not comply this Saturday after its 4-0 victory on the Drancy pitch in the 32nd final . This angered President Alain Melaye, who regretted the attitude of the Kita family. “I am disappointed, bitter and angry! It’s a big disappointment for amateur football. There is no rapprochement between amateurs and pros. However, many stars come from small amateur clubs. Kita’s attitude is small” revolted the president of the Drancy amateur club.
But there is no question for the FC Nantes staff to allow themselves to be insulted without saying anything. This is how Franck Kita, general director of the Loire-Atlantique club, responded to his counterpart from Drancy. The opportunity for the Nantes leader to strongly criticize the reception given by the National 3 club this weekend. “We had decided that we would remove our travel costs, bus and hotel, from our share of revenue. And if there had been a remainder on this share, we would have left it to the club” explains Franck Kita first before justifying himself.

“But that share didn’t even pay half of our costs. No one came to see us or introduce themselves as leader of Drancy. However, I was at the edge of the pitch during the entire warm-up. We were not invited to any lounge and we went to sit in the middle of the stands” regrets Franck Kita in the columns of Le Parisien. FC Nantes would have liked to be treated in a different way by the Drancy club, but the lack of dialogue and hospitality therefore pushed the Canaries to keep their share of the revenue in order to pay their travel expenses. Justifications which will undoubtedly not make the amateur club of JA Drancy angry.
