Sometimes it doesn't take much to set things on fire. This is what happened Thursday evening in Detroit, where Paul Reed et Jordan Clarkson rubbed shoulders twice in the paint before coming to blows. The Detroit pivot thus pushed back the Filipino international leader with insistence, causing the start of a scuffle.
This was then powered by Ron Holland II who came to stand in front of Jordan Clarkson, to defend his teammate. Jordan Clarkson had time to make a right to push back Ron Holland II before being held back by a referee. After a good minute needed to bring everyone down and calm everyone's emotions, the referees announced the expulsion of Jordan Clarkson and Ron Holland II while Paul Reed simply received a technical foul.
When we see the images again, it is Paul Reed who starts the confusion. But the interior had the merit of not making the situation worse, unlike Ron Holland II. Upon arrival, the NBA handed down its sanctions and it was Paul Reed, who initiated things, who came off the best with a fine of $15,000.
Ron Holland II was fined $25,000, while Jordan Clarkson will have to pay a check for $35,000. The reason? He threw his headband at a fan, which explains why he inherits the biggest fine of the trio. Moral of the story? Never respond to provocation…
