Flurina Neva Bätschi and Dario Caviezel scored two great podiums during the parallel slalom events in Davos. The Grisonne finished 3rd among the ladies, her compatriot finished 2nd.
The Swiss love the Swiss snow, who would have thought it? Jokes aside, the Swiss snowboarders were in top form on Saturday in Davos, with a podium for both the ladies and the men.
Flurina Neva Bätschi, who had already impressed in Yanqing two weeks ago with a good 4th place in the parallel slalom, took her revenge on home soil on Saturday by this time winning her small final to finish 3rd. A great first podium in the World Cup for the 21-year-old Grisonne behind this season's queen, the Japanese Tsubaki Miki, and the Dutch Michelle Dekker, back on the slalom box for the first time in almost 7 years. Larissa Gasser, the only other Swiss to qualify, stopped in the round of 16.
Dario Caviezel, 2nd
Among the men, Dario Caviezel achieved his first individual podium in almost two years, finishing 2nd after an already solid qualification. Having beaten an Austrian in the semi-final, he failed against a second in the final. This result will, however, give confidence to Grison, whose career has had many ups and downs. Austrian snowboarder Arvid Auner won, ahead of his compatriot Fabian Obmann, 3rd.
