With Alioune Thiam and Mbagnick Sène, Cécile Faye was elected president of the Senegalese Fencing Federation. She won against Mbagnick Junior by 12 votes to 2. This Friday, the information and elective general assembly took place at the headquarters of the body.
Cécile Faye, retired physical education and sports teacher, brings extensive experience in the sports field. Since her election, she has been committed to advancing Senegalese fencing at the highest level, with an obvious objective: to win medals at the Youth Olympic Games, which will take place in Dakar in 2026.
During the opening ceremony of the AGM, Gilbert Mbengue, director of physical and sporting activities (DAPS), welcomed a “unique opportunity, a means for the actors who have chosen to come together around an association and who elected their representatives within the Executive Bureau, to provide a complete update on the actions carried out. But also “a valuable opportunity for these actors to actively contribute, to formulate constructive criticism, always with the aim of ensuring the smooth running and development of the discipline”. He finally invited the new team to insist on the development of fencing at school.
