He moved up a level for his second day at the 35th Indian Ocean meeting which takes place at the Chaudron long course swimming pool in Saint-Denis (). After easily winning the 200m breaststroke the day before in 2'10''78, Léon Marchand was in the running for the 50m breaststroke. He dominated the qualifications, in 28''63, then accelerated a little in the semi-finals (28''31), before giving everything in the final for a time of 27''86, the record for the event .
