Tensions within the National Technical Directorate (DTN) are resurfacing, and they directly affect Mayacine Mar, the strong man of Senegalese football. According to information relayed today by 24 HOURSMayacine Mar would have proposed the appointment of Pape Thiaw to the position of national coach without consulting all the members of the DTN, which sparked a wave of discontent within the institution.
Our colleagues emphasize that a source close to the Federation revealed that this behavior is not a first for the head of the DTN. “Mayacine Mar is familiar with the facts. Not only does he make unilateral decisions, but he is also the Alpha and Omega of the DTN,” she stressed. According to this source, Mayacine Mar would have taken charge of key decisions, such as the travel of the national teams, a management which pays off financially. The criticism goes further: “He monopolizes everything, especially sub-regional tournaments and small competitions, leaving the other members of the DTN aside,” she specifies.

The shadow of manipulation hangs over the appointment of Pape Thiaw, with certain members of the Scientific Committee being accused of wanting to place their players on the transfer market through this choice. If Pape Thiaw is indeed confirmed, it would not be surprising to see Mayacine Mar overseeing the next technical team. Faced with this situation, a petition demanding his departure could soon emerge, thus reinforcing the internal divisions of the DTN.
