Tyler Johnson’s time with the Boston Bruins was as brief as it was strange, with the organization placing the forward’s name on waivers for contract termination on Thursday.
The 34-year-old veteran has only played nine games with the Bruins this season, collecting two assists. His last duel with the Massachusetts team, his first in two weeks, dates back to last Thursday. He finished his evening with a differential of -4 in a 5-1 loss to the Seattle Kraken.

Johnson agreed to a one-year, $775,000 contract with Boston on November 4, a month into the campaign. He had previously been invited to the training camp on the basis of a professional trial and continued to train with the group.
The American had spent the previous three seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks. He went under the knife in December 2021 for surgery to place an artificial vertebra in his neck.
In his career, the one who began his career with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2012-2013 after being ignored in the draft obtained 433 points in 747 games.
