Having been adopted from their first match by all of Quebec, the Victoire de Montréal players wanted to thank their community by helping less fortunate citizens this holiday season.

A warm clothing drive will be organized before the game on Monday, December 30, when the Boston Fleet will be at Place Bell in Laval at 7 p.m.
Donations will be given to the Chez Doris organization, whose mission is to support and empower women who find themselves in a precarious situation.
«Marie-Christine Boucher [directrice aux opérations et aux affaires de la Victoire] gave me some ideas and we chose Chez Doris because it’s for women,” explained forward Maureen Murphy on Thursday in a communication with The Journal.
“We try to make ourselves known for what we do off the ice as well. “It’s great if we can give back to a community that has given us so much, so quickly,” she continued.

Well integrated
The American who celebrated her 25the birthday Sunday has already demonstrated all his generosity since his arrival in Montreal. Well integrated into her new city, she was also rewarded during the first gala of the Professional Women’s Hockey League in June, receiving an award for her social commitment.
The holder of a master’s degree in public health had given nearly 600 hours, particularly to the elderly, while she was accompanied by her dog Bean. The one who is pursuing law studies had never boasted of her volunteer work.

«[Mercredi] evening, in Longueuil, players distributed Christmas baskets. Our group is so generous,” said Murphy.
The captain, Marie-Philip Poulin, Laura Stacey, Dara Greig and Anna Wilgren among others participated in this activity carried out in collaboration with the organization Action Nouvelle Vie.
