In the small papers for several weeks, the takeover of Everton FC is finally confirmed. This is what the English club announced on its social networks through a press release this Thursday morning, formalizing its acquisition by Roundhouse Capital Holdings Limited, an entity of the American group Friedkin, which already owns AS Roma and ‘AS Cannes. This buyout follows the conclusion of an agreement with the Blue Heaven Holdings group, the outgoing majority shareholder, and the validation of such an agreement by the competent authoritiesnotably the Premier League, as well as the English Football Association (FA).
If Farhad Moshiri, outgoing owner, “sincerely believes that the transaction with the Friedkin Group is the best solution for the club and its future success”, the new executive president of the club Marc Wattswho will now be responsible for the management of the club, is committed “to lead Everton into an exciting new era, on and off the pitch. Delivering immediate financial stability to the club has been a key priority, and we are delighted to have achieved this. Although returning Everton to their rightful place in the Premier League table will take time, today is the first step in that journey.. As a reminder, Everton are only in 16th placee Premier League championship placeonly three points ahead of the first relegation, Ipswich Town.
So we won’t see John Textor roaming the aisles of Goodison Park anytime soon.
