Anderlecht would like to release Amadou Diawara so as not to pay his last six months of salary. Problem: the Ghanaian does not seem to hear it that way.

Two seasons ago already, Anderlecht offered 1.9 million euros to AS Roma to acquire the services of Amadou Diawara. A name with a solid CV, supposed to succeed Adrien Trebel and supervise young players.

If the Ghanaian had agreed to a significant pay cut, Peter Verbeke still had to offer a salary of 1.5 million euros per season to the midfielder. A salary close to that of Thorgan Hazard and Jan Vertonghen.

A contract which weighs very heavily on the Mauves’ payroll, especially since Amadou Diawara has not played in an official match since December 17, 2023 and his appearance at the end of the match, against Antwerp. His last tenure dates back to September 2023.

Anderlecht looking to release Amadou Diawara, who wants to stay

Anderlecht therefore wants to get rid of it, and quickly. By the end of the season, counting the various bonuses, the RSCA will still have to pay the 27-year-old player almost 1 million euros. A situation that we seek to avoid in Neerpede.

However, it will not be easy, and Olivier Renard knows it. If Anderlecht wants to limit departures this winter, a solution will still have to be found for Amadou Diawara… who does not attract many people, in particular because of his high salary compared to his output.

During the winter transfer window, Anderlecht will therefore seek to part ways with Amadou Diawara for free, in order to save this million euros in salary, while the Ghanaian will seek to stay, to collect it. The solution could then turn to a six-month dry loan, which would therefore last until the end of his contract in the capital, provided that his new club covers a (significant) part of his salary.

A hell of a challenge, the first of its kind for Olivier Renard in Anderlecht. In the meantime, Amadou Diawara is training again with the A core to be ready when an opportunity, in another club, presents itself, writes the Last Hour.
